[UPDATE]
Gabby at Freeway Toyota is on the job, and swears she will find me a sky blue, fully loaded, manual Corrolla hatch.
I checked with my book keeper, and I actually owe less on the Infiniti than I thought. Even with the fresh dent in the fender, there is a reasonable probability I could get the payoff value and break even on the trade. Plus avoid insurance claim and rate increase on the fender.
I have about $10k I can throw at this if I wanted to do something right now, and I could probably pay off the balance even at MSRP by February at the latest. I pay about $950/mo on the Infiniti, so there is a lot of room in the budget for a car payment. So for these financial reasons, Mrs. IM has given me permission to shop. I love this woman. She gets me. I am 90% going to buy a car! Fun car! Manual car!
[END UPDATE ]
[ BEGIN INTERACTIVE IMPULSE CAR BUYING GAME ]
Wanna buy a car with me, Oppo?
While Gabby looks for my Corrolla, let’s shop around and make sure I do this right.
What new manuals should I test drive ? It has to be fun!
[END INTERACTIVE IMPULSE CAR BUYING CONTEST]
The manual is hard to find, and I could only find silver or white to which I say Bah! Who buys a silly little car without color?
After calling 3 local dealers, the third swore they would find me a Corrolla that I would love and be unable to refuse. So the hunt is on for my colorful hatch
Am I too old for blue?
Red is a reliable fun color
I kind of like this one:
The bronze does something in my tummy.
Stay tuned. Maybe I’ll go see some Korean cars this afternoon.

The red and aqua are nice.
But that blue is freaking awesome.

I like the blue best. I say have them order you one if that’s what it takes. The aqua’s a bit more conservative, but also quite nice if you don’t want something quite so flashy.

If that is the Toyota Red that I think it is, I’d go for that. It looks sublime IRL. The most wonderful dance in between a deep, tomatoey red and a smoky rich orange.

I dig the blues.

I did the builder for that the other day, and there was some package (interior color maybe?) that was only available with the blue and the white. I think it was the white interior, which looks cool but I wouldn’t want to have to be the guy to make sure it stays clean.

Too bad they don’t offer a sunroof on it :(

Sky blue is best blue
Although it’s kind of tough to gauge the Toyota blue from pictures, it seems to change depending on the lighting.

see now... my efficiency course the other day told me that all toyotas are made to order.... soooo... not being able to get a blue one seems a little odd no?
are you saying management is lying to me?
*shock*
*horror*

You gotta go that blue. I've checked out three in person already and it just works.

I bet there are very few manuals in the country

GET THE BLLUUUUEEEEE!!!!!!

There’s a reason it debuted in that color. The blue is by far the best color.

Anyway to option it without that god awful grill?

Go Galactic aqua

I love that galactic aqua - but that bright blue is awesome too.
I’ve been really tempted by this car too. I’ve been trying to stay away from a test drive though, might not be able to resist at that point.

Do you mean the bronze makes you nauseous? Bronze is the oldest person color followed by silver.

Definitely get a non-boring color. I like the green best, then the blue.
While you’re out test driving, be sure to check out a new GTI. A base model should slot in at about the same cost, while being roughly a bazillion times better from a driving perspective.

go for the hard core flashy.
or, take a deal on a not so flashy one that will be easier to resell, and WRAP it something really stupid, like neon yellow

Replace it with a photo of your hatred

Just went and had a look. There are four XSEs with a manual in San Francisco, three electric blue with black interior and one with the darker blue and white interior. Since the GTI is of no interest to you, I say go for it! Save the manuals!
![]() 11/17/2018 at 16:43 |

Definitely check out the GTI, the Corolla is a lightly warmed, starting to get cold again hatch.
![]() 11/17/2018 at 17:10 |

Cute hatch and even the low-end Toyotas have a lot of features these days. I have a friend who bought an iM and it has all the same features as my Volvo.
Maybe check out the Civic Si? They’re a little over- styled but could would be a good cross-shop.

That blue is nice.

The dark green is actual a colorshifter and very nice in person. (I have a boring budget-lease one in the driveway.) The styling of the front end should be criminal, but, eh. If you actually want one, let me help you out.
There is exactly one car meeting those requirements in the country. Not two. Not three. ONE.
Toyota West of Ohio, Columbus, OH, 614-503-1298. Stock number K3020794, VIN JTNK4RBE8K3020794. Blue Flame is the official color name, and it has the two-tone Moonstone leather interior.
The XSE is the only way to get it with all the options. There is only one option for the XSE, adaptive headlights. (This one doesn’t have it.) It does have the complete body protection package and all weather mats.

Definitely not too old for the that blue, I got a rental Camry from a Toyota dealership for my Mom last weekend (long story, shit week and a half) they had a Corolla hatch back that color and my mom loved it. She’s 70, I think your good.

another question:
can you find the lime green one there was for a year or two?
![]() 11/17/2018 at 19:27 |

A blue C-HR would suit you better than a corolla IMO.
![]() 11/17/2018 at 19:43 |

Do you need practicality? If not, go check out a 2019 Miata . Heck, just do that for the fun of it and take that sucker up to it’s new and improved redline!
Have you driven a Fiesta ST or Focus ST? Do dealers have the Veloster N yet? If not, do check out the Turbo R-Spec Veloster. That might be more fun than the Corolla.

Try a GTI I have an 18 manual and love it. Maybe you'll like the manual maybe you'll like the dsg more.

![]() 11/17/2018 at 20:58 |

For the money I’d rather have other cars. I haven’t driven it but the numbers look modest at best. I bet there are Fiesta STs on lots near you at good prices. I’d at least give it a shot.

There’s someone at work with an electric blue one and it looks so good. I'd love to have one.
